We believe SPUR is a platform for community-minded citizens to embrace the notion that we don’t have to change the world. We simply need to do our little bit of good to make a difference. One of those ways is by participating in our personal care kit drive.
Being clean is essential for basic human dignity. Many people in need lack the most basic of necessities - personal care items such as shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, mouthwash, and feminine hygiene products. Access to these products is something that most of us may take for granted but for those struggling, the cost is prohibitive.
We have an ongoing collection of new, travel-size / hotel-size toiletries and feminine products. A permanent collection bin can be found at Shubie’s Marketplace, 16 Atlantic Avenue in Marblehead. Your donations will be collected and packaged by students in the community for distribution to people in need.
There are three ways to get involved with this project:
1) Look around your house and identify any new, unused travel size toiletries or oral hygiene products from a dental visit
2) Bring home new, unused, travel-size toiletries & toothbrushes from your April break travels
3) Visit Target, CVS or similar and purchase new, travel size toiletries and/or oral hygiene products
We’ve distributed just over 3,200 personal care kits since 2015!
If you’re traveling, remember to bring those unused hotel toiletries home with you.
Thank you for participating in this project! We are thrilled to SPUR good deeds with you.
