Knit your Bit
Sponsored by Marblehead Knits and Secure Lock and Alarm. This is an opportunity to knit or crochet blankets, hats, scarves, and mittens for members of the military that are returning home from active duty. Open to individuals of all abilities, novice artisans will be paired with more advanced for mentorship through the knitting / crocheting process.
Ways to participate:
1) During the first meeting on May 4, knitters can choose to make a 14 x 14 block of a blanket that will be sewn together when all of the blocks are complete. Secure Lock and Alarm is generously contributing $250 to supply the first 25 participants with their blanket square kit. RSVP requested via link below.
2) Marblehead Knits has picked 3 patterns for hats, scarves, and cowls that range from beginner to intermediate skill levels. Those interested can stop by the store any time prior to the first meeting on Thursday May 4 to pick up a kit or get some instruction. These kits will range from $10-$15 to purchase.
Completed blankets, hats, scarves and cowls will be delivered to the U.S.O lounge at Boston Logan airport. Blankets will remain on site so service men and women can use them for layovers and cold weather gear can be taken as needed.
