Cleaning our community's green spaces gives us an opportunity to care for the places that we love, to gather as a community, and care for our delicate coastal ecosystem. Some of the greatest features of our community are the number and quality of our open spaces and we share a responsibility to care for and maintain them.
Join SPUR & Sustainable Marblehead on Saturday, September 17th to clean trash and debris at over 30 parks and beaches in honor of International Coastal Cleanup Day. To participate as a Team Leader, Cleanup Volunteer, or Trash Tracker, click HERE. We will also be hosting a post-cleanup event with an educational component & ice cream for clean-up participants. Stay tuned for more details!
At SPUR’s twice-annual park and beach clean-up, hundreds of volunteers pick up trash and debris from
public spaces in Lynn, Marblehead, Salem, and Swampscott in partnership with other community organizations. Volunteers meet with a Team Leader at a designated meeting spot to receive gloves and trash bags
and then work together to remove the trash left behind or washed ashore. Here are just some of the locations that we typically clean in the following communities:
Lynn: Lynn Common, Red Rock Park, Keaney Park & more
Marblehead: Devereux/Riverhead Beaches, Gatchel Park, Goldwaithe & more!
Salem: Forest River Park, Winter Island, Salem Willows & more!
Swampscott: Phillips Beach, Ewing Woods, Philips Beach & more!
